Saving for a Disney Vacation!

One of the most common questions we get asked is "How can I save money for and on my Disney vacation?" While there's no perfect answer and it mostly depends on what works best for each individual, we thought we would share a few of our favorites. Most of our MousePro agents utilize these methods for their own vacations!

Disney Vacation Account

The Disney Vacation Account is an online service that allows you to have money withdrawn from your credit card, debit card on a weekly, bi weekly, monthly, or even a one time contribution with a Disney Gift Card. It's a great, flexible, way to set a little money aside for your family's magical vacation. Whether it's Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, or even a visit to Disney's Aulani, a Resort and Spa located in Hawaii, the Disney Vacation Account can help you get there.

The Disney Vacation Account is essentially an online savings account without the interest...but there are some perks. The biggest perk is the ability to earn a $20 Disney Gift Card for every $1,000 you spend on a qualifying vacation purchase with your Disney Vacation Account prior to December 31, 2017 (date subject to extension). The maximum amount you can earn is $500 and your account must be active for at least 120 days to receive the bonus.

Disney Gift Cards

Purchasing Disney Gift Cards to use for your Disney vacation is a great way to save money. They can be purchased at almost every supermarket, big box store, discount club, etc. Our favorite place to purchase the gift cards is Target where you get 5% when you use your RedCard debit or credit card. While 5% might not seem like much, it adds up especially if you use the Disney Gift Cards to pay for your entire vacation. More savings, more Dole Whips......ok back on track. You can also find a small savings in purchasing Disney Gift Cards in bulk at club stores like Sam's Club and BJ's. Some grocery stores like Kroger even give fuel discounts for gift card purchases. While the idea of a stack of Gift Cards may sound horrible, you can deposit your Disney Gift Cards into your Disney Savings Account or combine your cards on DisneyGiftCards.com!

Filling the Piggy Bank!

In addition to utilizing the Disney Vacation Account and Disney Gift Cards, there are some great old fashioned savings tips!

  • Opening a savings account or vacation account at your bank.

  • Putting all spare change into your Disney fund piggy bank

  • Yard sales

  • Pack your lunch

  • Start using coupons
